RESOLUTION IN SUPPORT OF AB 2881 (MULLIN), STATE PRESCHOOL PROGRAMS

RESOLVED, by the Board of Supervisors of the County of San Mateo, State of California, that

WHEREAS, AB 2881 (Mullin) would reorganize existing preschool programs into the Part-Day Preschool Program and the Full-Day Preschool Program; and

WHEREAS, AB 2881 would codify current practice found in contractual agreements as well as require the Superintendent of Public Instruction to review unallocated funds and make recommendations by March 2007 on how best to ensure that the funds are spent on a timely basis; and

WHEREAS, in doing so, AB 2881 would simplify Department of Education reporting by decreasing the amount of paperwork, accounting and audit costs while maintaining current services.

NOW, THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY DETERMINED AND ORDERED that the Board of Supervisors by adoption of this resolution hereby supports AB 2881 (Mullin) regarding state preschool programs.
