BOARD OF SUPERVISORS, COUNTY OF SAN MATEO, STATE OF CALIFORNIA

RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE SHERIFF, ACTING IN HIS CAPACITY AS THE AREA COORDINATOR OF THE OFFICE OF EMERGENCY SERVICES, TO SUBMIT A GRANT APPLICATION TO CALIFORNIA OFFICE OF HOMELAND SECURITY AND TO EXECUTE THE GRANT AGREEMENT AND ANY OTHER DOCUMENTS REQUIRED BY AND FOR THE PROGRAM AS DESCRIBED.

 
 

    RESOLVED, by the Board of Supervisors of the County of San Mateo, State of California, that

 

    WHEREAS, the Sheriff or his designee serves as the Area coordinator of the San Mateo County Office of Emergency Services (OES); and

 

    WHEREAS, OES wishes to apply to the State for grant funding to enable local agencies to enhance and/or supplement the capabilities of local first responders; and

 

    WHEREAS, the State of California, Office of Homeland Security (OHS) requires the Grantee to certify by resolution of the approval of the application before submission of said application before submission of said application to the State; and

 

    WHEREAS, the State of California, OHS has received funding through the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) which we will be allocated to the local agencies to enhance the capabilities of local first responders through the purchase of advanced equipment, training, planning, and exercises to enhance homeland security; and

 

    WHEREAS, OES will serve as the administrator for the grant award received in the amount of TWO MILLION FIVE HUNDRED THOUSAND DOLLARS AND NO CENTS ($2,500,000.00) by the State of California through DHS to enhance the capabilities of local first responders; and

 

    NOW, THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY DETERMINED AND ORDERED that the Board of Supervisors authorizes the Sheriff, in his capacity as OES Area Coordinator, to apply for a grant to supplement, modify, amend, or add emergency programs in the amount of $2,500,000; and that the President of the Board shall execute the Certification necessary to complete application; and

 

    IT IS FURTHER ORDERED that the Area OES Coordinator or designee shall familiarize himself with the assurances and certifications in the application, and assure the County’s ability to comply with and conduct all negotiations, and execute and submit all documents including, but not limited to, the application, grant agreement, amendments, payment requests, and other documents that may be necessary for the completion of the aforementioned program.
