THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS
COUNTY OF SAN MATEO, STATE OF CALIFORNIA

RESOLUTION CONGRATULATING

 

William Matthews

Upon his retirement after 25 years with the

Daly City Fire Department

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

WHEREAS, William Matthews retired from the Daly City Fire Department as a Firefighter on May 6, 2005, with more than 25 years of exemplary service; and

   

WHEREAS, Bill first joined the department on Nov. 26, 1979, and throughout the years has also served numerous times as an acting Engineer-Operator as well as a Captain; and

   

WHEREAS, Bill has participated in many of the department’s community outreach programs, such as Operation Santa Claus, Fire Prevention Week school program and with the San Mateo County Firefighter Recruit Academy; and

   

WHEREAS, Over the years, Bill has received numerous accolades from the public and colleagues, including departmental commendations for actions during a March 21, 1975, fire and for actions during the 1998 greater alarm fire at 15 Poncetta Drive; and

   

WHEREAS, Bill’s professionalism and leadership have set examples for others to follow and emulate.

   

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors of San Mateo County congratulates William Matthews upon his retirement from the Daly City Fire Department after more than a quarter-century of selfless service to Daly City and northern San Mateo County. The Board hereby extends its gratitude and adds sincere wishes to Bill and his family for many, many years of continuing peace and happiness.
