COUNTY OF SAN MATEO, STATE OF CALIFORNIA

RESOLUTION CONGRATULATING

 

Michael Shea

Upon his retirement after 33 years with the

Daly City Fire Department

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

WHEREAS, Michael Shea retired from the Daly City Fire Department on May 6, 2005, as a Fire Captain with more than 33 years of exemplary and dedicated service; and

   

WHEREAS, Mike first joined the department on Dec. 1, 1972, and rose through the ranks to become Fire Captain on March 1, 1986, and was appointed Acting Battalion Chief on Sept. 26, 1989, and has overseen the conduct of countless incidents throughout his career; and

   

WHEREAS, Mike served with distinction throughout his career, including membership on the California Overhead Strike Teams to the 1987 Pebble Beach incident and the 1991 Tunnel Fire incident in the Oakland Hills; and

   

WHEREAS, Mike earned and held the respect of peers and colleagues through his skill, professionalism, positive attitude, calm demeanor, aptitude to mentor new firefighters and courage at all incidents.

   

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors of San Mateo County congratulates Michael Shea upon his retirement from the Daly City Fire Department after more than three decades of selfless service to Daly City and northern San Mateo County. The Board hereby extends its gratitude and adds sincere wishes to Mike and his family for many, many years of continuing peace and happiness.
