Background / Discussion

Plastic Surgery services are provided under the general direction of the Medical Director of San Mateo Medical Center. Such care includes professional plastic surgery services, specifically in the area of non-cosmetic post-traumatic, post-cancer, and hand reconstructive care. The Regents of the University of California provides plastic surgery services. For the past two years, they have provided these services as a Contractor to the San Mateo Medical Center.

Submission of this contract for approval was delayed due to prolonged negotiations, which ended in March 2006. Contractor agreed to provide services until the end of the fiscal year with a slight increase in rates for on call services. County has recruited new Contractors to provide plastic surgery services effective July 1, 2006.

The Agreement includes all provisions that are required by county ordinance and administrative memoranda, including but not limited to insurance, hold harmless, non-discrimination, equal benefits and jury service policy. Risk Management and County Counsel have also approved the Agreement.

Term and Fiscal Impact

The term of the agreement is from June 1, 2005 through June 30, 2006. The maximum amount for the term of the agreement increased from $152,100 to $157,508.10. Funding for FY2005-06 is included in the Adopted Budget for San Mateo Medical Center.
