Honorable Board of Supervisors

FROM:

Nancy J. Steiger, Chief Executive Officer, San Mateo Medical Center

SUBJECT:

Resolution Authorizing the Controller to Continue Payments on Contracts from July 1, 2006 to September 30, 2006.

RECOMMENDATION:

Adopt a resolution authorizing the Controller to continue payments on contracts from July 1, 2006 to September 30, 2006.

VISION ALIGNMENT:

Commitment: Ensure Basic Health and Safety for All

Goal 5: Provide residents access to healthcare and preventive care

These contracts will allow SMMC to continue providing needed services to all patients.

BACKGROUND:

San Mateo Medical Center has a number of contracts for services that expire on or before June 30, 2006 and are pending completion. These contracts, listed on Attachment A, will be brought to you for renewal or extension within the next three months.

DISCUSSION:

To ensure continued provision of services during this period, it is necessary to authorize the Controller to continue to make payments to these contractors at the existing rates through September 30, 2006. This resolution allows contractors to meet their commitments in a timely fashion and will allow San Mateo Medical Center time needed to complete negotiations. This resolution requires that all terms and conditions of the existing agreements be met.

FISCAL IMPACT:

Funds for the annual cost of all contracts have been included in the San Mateo Medical Center’s FY 2006-07 Recommended Budget.
