RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE FY 2006-07 SHERIFF’S OFFICE BOOKING FEE TO BE ESTABLISHED AT $107

 

RESOLVED, by the Board of Supervisors of the County of San Mateo, State of California, that:

 

WHEREAS, Counties are granted the authority to impose fees for the booking of inmates into County detention facilities, and San Mateo County has historically imposed said fees on an annual basis;

 

WHEREAS, in 1994 a joint City/County committee met and agreed upon the basic booking fee rates and computation methodology used in determination of the booking fee, and said methodology has been followed since that time consistent with statutory requirements and changes; and

 

WHEREAS, state law provides for elimination of State reimbursement to cities for the booking fee; adjustment of the annual booking fee to reflect Sheriff’s actual costs; and the application of a 50% cap on the billable fee amount; and

 

WHEREAS, The Sheriff is recommending a 50%-capitated 2006-07 booking fee of $107, with the base rate of $214 supported by an independent cost study and by established city-county practice; and

 

WHEREAS, affected and interested parties, including all County police departments, have been advised and noticed of the public meeting to consider this fee, in accordance with Section 29550 and 54952.2 of the Government Code; and

 

    NOW THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY DETERMINED AND ORDERED BY THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS, COUNTY OF SAN MATEO, THAT: the FY 2006-07 Sheriff’s Office Booking Fee is established at $107 effective July 1, 2006, for the period from said date through June 30, 2007, and the Clerk of this Board shall attest the President of this Board’s signature thereto.
