RESOLUTION IN SUPPORT OF AB 32 (NúñEZ), CALIFORNIA GLOBAL WARMING SOLUTIONS ACT OF 2006

RESOLVED, by the Board of Supervisors of the County of San Mateo, State of California, that

WHEREAS, in 2005, Governor Schwarzenegger issued Executive Order S-3-05 in which he set targets for reducing global warming pollution in California; and

WHEREAS, the Governor called for a reduction by 2010, to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions to 2000 levels; by 2020, to reduce GHG emissions to 1990 levels; by 2050, to reduce GHG emissions to 80 percent below 1990 levels; and

WHEREAS, AB 32 would charge the State Air Resources Board (ARB) with the responsibility of setting limits on greenhouse gas emissions with the purpose of curbing global warming; and

WHEREAS, AB 32 will effectively create a statewide limit on global warming emissions;

NOW, THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY DETERMINED AND ORDERED that the Board of Supervisors by adoption of this resolution hereby supports AB 32 (Núñez), the California Global Warming Solutions Act of 2006.
