SUBJECT:
Extension of SunGard Bi-Tech Contract
RECOMMENDATION:
Resolution approving the Change Order for the Extension of the SunGard Bi-Tech Agreement to June 30, 2007.
VISION ALIGNMENT:
Commitment: Responsive, effective and collaborative government.
Goal(s): This action will contribute to the County’s Shared Vision 2010 goal number 20 that government decisions are based on careful consideration of future impact, rather than temporary relief or immediate gain.
BACKGROUND:
On November 9, 2004, the Board approved the Controller’s Office agreements, contracts, contingency reserve and associated hardware and software purchases to upgrade the County’s Integrated Financial Accounting System (IFAS). The upgrade has allowed the County to extend and enhance the useful life of IFAS, provide a more user friendly interface and save the County tens of millions of dollars in replacing IFAS with an alternative enterprise resource planning system.

DISCUSSION:
Additional time is required by the vendor to complete software modifications necessary to implement our site-specific e-mail notification enhancement. The extension of this contract will not only provide further enhancement, but also allow a phased implementation of our new Fixed Assets module.
FISCAL IMPACT:
Costs for both of these items were included in original contract amount.
