TO:

Honorable Board of Supervisors

FROM:

Sheriff Don Horsley, Office of Emergency Services Area Coordinator

SUBJECT:

Corrected Resolution for the Purchase of 16 “Eagle Model 754 Portable Ventilators” for use San Mateo County Emergency Medical Services (EMS).

RECOMMENDATION:

Adopt a Resolution waiving the Competitive Bid Process and authorizing the Purchasing Agent to the purchase of 16 “Eagle Model 754 Portable Ventilators” from Progressive Medical International. (Approved on June 6, 2006)

BACKGROUND:

Last month, on June 6th, your Board adopted Resolution No. 068045, which waived the Competitive Bid Process and authorized the purchase of 16 “Eagle Model 754 Portable Ventilators” from Impact Instrumentation, Inc. However, it was recently discovered that the incorrect vendor name was referenced in both the Board memo and resolution, and that while Impact Instrumentation, Inc. is the name of the manufacturer of the ventilators, the vendor is Progressive Medical International.

DISCUSSION:

The Purchasing Agent is unable to issue a purchase order in the amount of $146,121.40, until the Board of Supervisors has adopted a resolution naming the correct vendor. This resolution will correct the inadvertent error that was included in the resolution your board adopted on June 6, 2006.

FISCAL IMPACT:

The purchase of 16 “Eagle Model 754 Portable Ventilators” from Progressive Medical International will cost $146,121.40, which includes shipping and tax. Funding for this equipment will come from the 2004 SHSP grant.

There is no net County cost associated with this project.
