THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS
COUNTY OF SAN MATEO, STATE OF CALIFORNIA

RESOLUTION CONGRATULATING

Louis & Bianca Caserza

Upon Their

50th Wedding Anniversary

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

WHEREAS, Louis Caserza, a proud Italian-American son of San Francisco, was born in an Ivy Street house in the Hayes Valley neighborhood, and Bianca Ratto emigrated at age 2 to Daly City from her native town of Stella San Martin, Italy; and

   

WHEREAS, Lou earned a mechanical engineering degree from Santa Clara University, while Bianca holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of California, Berkeley, where she studied Italian, Spanish and history; and

   

WHEREAS, during a dinner-dance hosted by Branch 19 (Colma) of the Italian Catholic Federation, of which Bianca was a member, she met Lou, a member of ICF Branch 7 (South San Francisco); their first date was in December 1955 and the couple married on August 18, 1956, at Holy Angels Church in Colma; and

   

WHEREAS, Lou and Bianca raised three daughters, Rosemarie, Catherine and Elizabeth, and Lou retired in 1984 after 34 years with Bechtel, and Bianca was a long-time librarian and language teacher with the Jefferson Union High School District; and

   

WHEREAS, when not traveling throughout the United States and other countries, Lou can be found in front of his workbench or enjoying various television news programs, such as 60 Minutes, while Bianca has dedicated more than 20 years serving on the Daly City Library Board of Trustees, plus a host of literacy-related projects, earning her Daly City Commissioner of the Year honors in 1994.

   

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors of San Mateo County congratulates Louis and Bianca Caserza upon their Golden Jubilee, and hereby extends sincere wishes for many, many more years of unconditional love and shared peace and happiness.
