RESOLUTION

THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS

COUNTY OF SAN MATEO, STATE OF CALIFORNIA

RESOLUTION HONORING AND COMMENDING THE HONORABLE

WILLIAM CODY

Upon his retirement from the County of San Mateo, Sheriff’s Department

WHEREAS, WILLIAM CODY joined the San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office in August 1977 and rose through the ranks as a Deputy Sheriff, an undercover Narcotics Agent, a Detective and Detective Sergeant in the prestigious Homicide Unit, where he successfully and tenaciously investigated and solved numerous homicides, sexual assaults, and robberies that occurred within San Mateo County and his diligence in these investigations resulted in numerous arrests and convictions against violent offenders; and

WHEREAS, WILLIAM CODY was awarded The Police Officer of the Year award in 1997 by the Trial Attorneys of San Mateo County for his outstanding contribution and service to the citizens of San Mateo County with his untiring work in the investigation of sexual assaults and the implementation of Megan’s Law sex offender database in San Mateo County; and

WHEREAS, WILLIAM CODY became an inspector with the San Mateo County District Attorney’s Office - Bureau of Investigation in October 2000 and in that position meticulously and successfully investigated and solved multiple major felonies including fraud, sexual assault, and homicide and played a lead role in the investigation of officer involved homicide investigations; and

WHEREAS, WILLIAM CODY became Chief Inspector with the San Mateo County District Attorney’s Office – Bureau of Investigation in March 2003 and played a dominant role in building the Bureau of Investigation into a distinguished law enforcement investigative unit within the County of San Mateo; and

WHEREAS, WILLIAM CODY is highly regarded and respected among his peers for his keen investigative expertise, is recognized as a superior leader and manager within the law enforcement community and has been a valuable asset to the citizens of San Mateo County during his 29 years of service,

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors of the County of San Mateo, State of California, hereby commends WILLIAM CODY for his leadership, dedication, and commitment to the citizens of San Mateo County and wishes him all the best in his well-deserved retirement.
