ADOPT A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING AN AMENDMENT TO THE AGREEMENT WITH THE ALAMEDA COUNTY, WORKFORCE INVESTMENT BOARD, EXTENDING THE TERM TO DECEMBER 31, 2006

RESOLVED, by the Board of Supervisors of the County of San Mateo, State of California, that

WHEREAS, The County of San Mateo, Workforce Investment Board (WIB) is working in collaboration with the Alameda County Workforce Investment Board to provide career training and placement in the Biotechnology field to dislocated and disadvantage workers; and

WHEREAS, on December 6, 2005, by Resolution No. 067687, the Board of Supervisors approved an Agreement with the Alameda County Workforce Investment Board to receive grant funds in the amount of $793,601 to provide biotechnology career training and placement for the term of August 1, 2004 through June 30, 2006; and

WHEREAS, the parties now which to enter into an Amendment to the Agreement to extend the term to December 31, 2006, so that the San Mateo County WIB can continue to provide such services for an additional six months; and

WHEREAS, This Board has been presented with a form of such First Amendment and said Board has examined and approved same as to both form and content and desires to enter into the same.

NOW, THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY DETERMINED AND ORDERED that the President of this Board of Supervisors is hereby authorized and directed to execute said Agreement for and on behalf of the County of San Mateo, and the Clerk of this Board shall attest the President's signature thereto.
