BOARD OF SUPERVISORS, COUNTY OF SAN MATEO, STATE OF CALIFORNIA

RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE EXECUTION OF AN AMENDMENT TO THE AGREEMENT WITH SOUTH COUNTY FIRE AUTHORITY TO PROVIDE PERSONNEL TO STAFF THE COUNTYWIDE HAZARDOUS MATERIALS EMERGENCY RESPONSE TEAM (HAZMAT).

 

    RESOLVED, by the Board of Supervisors of the County of San Mateo, State of California, that

 

    WHEREAS, the Hazardous Materials Emergency Response Team (Hazmat) was formed in 1985 as part of the Countywide Emergency Services Joint Powers Authority; and

 

    WHEREAS, Hazmat is a multi-agency response team which services all 21 cities and the unincorporated areas of the County; and

 

    WHEREAS, on July 27, 2004, the County entered into three (3) year Agreement with South County Fire Authority to provide hazardous materials emergency response services, for an amount not to exceed $621,000 and a term expiring June 30, 2007; and

 

WHEREAS, on July 1, 2006 an agreement was entered into between the cities of Belmont and San Carlos to create the Belmont-San Carlos Fire Department, replacing the South County Fire Authority; and

 

    WHEREAS, both parties now wish to amend certain terms of the existing Agreement to establish a relationship between SCFA and the Countywide Emergency Services Joint Powers Authority, as well as to increase the contract maximum by $119,000 to $740,000; and

 

    WHEREAS, this Board has been presented with a form of such Amendment and has examined and approved same as to both form and content, and desires to enter into same:

 

NOW THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY DETERMINED AND ORDERED THAT: the President of this Board of Supervisors be, and is hereby authorized to, execute the Amendment to the Agreement with Belmont-San Carlos Fire Department, the successor agency to the South County Fire Authority, for and on behalf of the County of San Mateo, and the Clerk of this Board shall attest the President’s signature thereto.
