RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CHIEF ELECTIONS OFFICE TO RENDER SPECIFIED ELECTION SERVICES FOR THE COUNTY OF SAN MATEO, BAYSHORE SCHOOL DISTRICT, CABRILLO UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICT, MENLO PARK CITY ELEMENTARY SCHOOL DISTRICT, RAVENSWOOD CITY SCHOOL DISTRICT, SAN MATEO COUNTY BOARD OF EDUCATION, SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICT, LA HONDA-PESCADERO UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICT, JEFFERSON UNION HIGH SCHOOL DISTRICT, SAN MATEO UNION HIGH SCHOOL DISTRICT, MENLO PARK FIRE PROTECTION DISTRICT, PENINSULA HEALTH CARE DISTRICT, SEQUOIA HEALTHCARE DISTRICT, CITY OF BRISBANE, CITY OF BURLINGAME, TOWN OF COLMA, CITY OF DALY CITY, CITY OF EAST PALO ALTO, TOWN OF HILLSBOROUGH, CITY OF MENLO PARK, CITY OF PACIFICA, TOWN OF PORTOLA VALLEY, IN CONJUNCTION WITH THE GENERAL ELECTION TO BE HELD ON TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 7, 2006.

RESOLVED, by the Board of Supervisors of the County of San Mateo, State of California, that

 

WHEREAS, pursuant to State Law, the Board of Supervisors of San Mateo County adopted Resolution No. 068164 calling an election on Tuesday, November 7, 2006, for the purpose of submitting a Tax Measure to the voters of the County; and

 

WHEREAS, the Bayshore School District, Cabrillo Unified School District, Menlo Park City Elementary School District, Ravenswood City School District, San Mateo County Board Of Education, South San Francisco Unified School District are required to hold regularly scheduled Governing Board elections, and the named Districts have notified the County Elections Official of the number of seats to be elected and the relevant policies for breaking a tie vote and conflict of interest filings for candidates, and more candidates filed for election in the named districts than there are seats available; and

 

WHEREAS, pursuant to State Law, the Peninsula Health Care District and the Sequoia Healthcare District have notified the Elections Official of the number of seats to be elected, the conflict of interest requirements for candidates, and the boundaries of the district, and more candidates filed for election in the named districts than there are seats available; and

 

WHEREAS, pursuant to State Law, the Governing Body of the La Honda-Pescadero Unified School District adopted Resolution No. 06-07-02 giving notice of holding a Special Election on Tuesday, November 7, 2006, for the purpose of submitting a Bond Measure to the voters of the District and requesting the Board of Supervisors to permit the Chief Elections Officer to render specified services to the La Honda-Pescadero Unified School District relating to the conduct of the Special Election; and

 

WHEREAS, pursuant to State Law, the Governing Body of the Jefferson Union High School District adopted Resolution No. 2005-06/22 giving notice of holding a Special Election on Tuesday, November 7, 2006, for the purpose of submitting a Bond Measure to the voters of the District and requesting the Board of Supervisors to permit the Chief Elections Officer to render specified services to the Jefferson Union High School District relating to the conduct of the Special Election; and

 

WHEREAS, pursuant to State Law, the Governing Body of the San Mateo Union High School District adopted Resolution No. 06-20 giving notice of holding a Special Election on Tuesday, November 7, 2006, for the purpose of submitting a Bond Measure to the voters of the District and requesting the Board of Supervisors to permit the Chief Elections Officer to render specified services to the San Mateo Union High School District relating to the conduct of the Special Election; and

 

WHEREAS, pursuant to State Law, the Board of Directors of the Menlo Park Fire Protection District adopted Resolution No. 1114 giving notice of holding a Special Election on Tuesday, November 7, 2006, for the purpose of submitting a Fiscal Measure to the voters of the District and requesting the Board of Supervisors to permit the Chief Elections Officer to render specified services to the Menlo Park Fire Protection District relating to the conduct of the Special Election; and

 

WHEREAS, pursuant to State Law, the City Council of the City of Brisbane adopted Resolution No. 2006-32 giving notice of holding a Special Election on Tuesday, November 7, 2006, for the purpose of submitting a Land Use Measure to the voters of the City and requesting the Board of Supervisors to permit the Chief Elections Officer to render specified services to the City, and a Service Agreement has been executed enumerating the services to be rendered by the Chief Elections Officer to the City of Brisbane relating to the conduct of the Special Election; and

 

WHEREAS, pursuant to State Law, the City Council of the City of Burlingame adopted Resolution No. 1792 giving notice of holding a Special Election on Tuesday, November 7, 2006, for the purpose of submitting a Bond Measure to the voters of the City and requesting the Board of Supervisors to permit the Chief Elections Officer to render specified services to the City, and a Service Agreement has been executed enumerating the services to be rendered by the Chief Elections Officer to the City of Burlingame relating to the conduct of the Special Election; and

 

WHEREAS, pursuant to State Law, the Town Council of the Town of Colma adopted Resolution No. 2006-33 and 2006-34 giving notice of holding a General Election on Tuesday, November 7, 2006, for the purpose of electing two Members to the City Council for a term of four years, and one City Treasurer for a term of four years and requesting the Board of Supervisors to permit the Chief Elections Officer to render specified services to the Town of Colma, and a Service Agreement has been executed enumerating the services to be rendered by the Chief Elections Officer to the Town of Colma relating to the conduct of the Special Election; and

 

WHEREAS, pursuant to State Law, the City Council of the City of Daly City adopted Resolution No. 06-121 giving notice of holding a General Election on Tuesday, November 7, 2006, for the purpose of electing three Members to the City Council for a term of four years and requesting the Board of Supervisors to permit the Chief Elections Officer to render specified services to the City of Daly City, and a Service Agreement has been executed enumerating the services to be rendered by the Chief Elections Officer to the City of Daly City relating to the conduct of the General Election; and

 

WHEREAS, pursuant to State Law, the City Council of the City of Daly City adopted Resolution No. 06-162 giving notice of holding a Special Election on Tuesday, November 7, 2006, for the purpose of submitting an Ordinance to the voters of the City and requesting the Board of Supervisors to permit the Chief Elections Officer to render specified services to the City of Daly City, and a Service Agreement has been executed enumerating the services to be rendered by the Chief Elections Officer to the City of Daly City relating to the conduct of the General Election; and

 

WHEREAS, pursuant to State Law, the City Council of the City of East Palo Alto adopted Resolution No. 2584 giving notice of holding a General Election on Tuesday, November 7, 2006, for the purpose of electing two Members to the City Council and submitting two Tax Measures and one Ordinance to the voters of the City and requesting the Board of Supervisors to permit the Chief Elections Officer to render specified services to the City of East Palo Alto, and a Service Agreement has been executed enumerating the services to be rendered by the Chief Elections Officer to the City of East Palo Alto relating to the conduct of the General Election; and

 

WHEREAS, pursuant to State Law, the Town Council of the Town of Hillsborough adopted Resolution No. 06-64 giving notice of holding a General Election on Tuesday, November 7, 2006, for the purpose of electing two Members to the Town Council and requesting the Board of Supervisors to permit the Chief Elections Officer to render specified services to the Town of Hillsborough, and a Service Agreement has been executed enumerating the services to be rendered by the Chief Elections Officer to the Town of Hillsborough relating to the conduct of the General Election; and

 

WHEREAS, pursuant to State Law, the City Council of the City of Menlo Park adopted Resolution No. 5669 giving notice of holding a General Election on Tuesday, November 7, 2006, for the purpose of electing three Members to the City Council and requesting the Board of Supervisors to permit the Chief Elections Officer to render specified services to the City of Menlo Park, and a Service Agreement has been executed enumerating the services to be rendered by the Chief Elections Officer to the City of Menlo Park relating to the conduct of the General Election; and

 

WHEREAS, pursuant to State Law, the City Council of the City of Menlo Park adopted Resolution No. 5693 and Resolution No. 5694 giving notice of holding a Special Election on Tuesday, November 7, 2006, for the purpose of submitting an Advisory Measure and a Tax Measure, respectively, and requesting the Board of Supervisors to permit the Chief Elections Officer to render specified services to the City of Menlo Park, and a Service Agreement has been executed enumerating the services to be rendered by the Chief Elections Officer to the City of Menlo Park relating to the conduct of the General Election; and

 

WHEREAS, pursuant to State Law, the City Council of the City of Pacifica adopted Resolution No. 35-2006 giving notice of holding a General Election on Tuesday, November 7, 2006, for the purpose of electing three Members to the City Council for a term of four years, and requesting the Board of Supervisors to permit the Chief Elections Officer to render specified services to the City of Pacifica, and a Service Agreement has been executed enumerating the services to be rendered by the Chief Elections Officer to the City of Pacifica relating to the conduct of the General Election; and

 

WHEREAS, pursuant to State Law, the City Council of the City of Pacifica adopted Resolution No. 53-2006 giving notice of holding a Special Election on Tuesday, November 7, 2006, for the purpose of submitting a Land Use Measure to the voters of the City and requesting the Board of Supervisors to permit the Chief Elections Officer to render specified services to the City of Pacifica, and a Service Agreement has been executed enumerating the services to be rendered by the Chief Elections Officer to the City of Pacifica relating to the conduct of the General Election; and

 

WHEREAS, pursuant to State Law, the Town Council of the Town of Portola Valley adopted Resolution No. 2259-2006 giving notice of holding a Special Election on Tuesday, November 7, 2006, for the purpose of submitting an Ordinance to the voters of the City and requesting the Board of Supervisors to permit the Chief Elections Officer to render specified services to the Town of Portola Valley, and a Service Agreement has been executed enumerating the services to be rendered by the Chief Elections Officer to the Town of Portola Valley relating to the conduct of the General Election; and

 

WHEREAS, the Chief Elections Officer has been asked to perform certain services in conjunction with this Election; and

WHEREAS, the Chief Elections Officer is agreeable to providing election services to the County of San Mateo, Bayshore School District, Cabrillo Unified School District, Menlo Park City Elementary School District, Ravenswood City School District, San Mateo County Board Of Education, South San Francisco Unified School District, La Honda-Pescadero Unified School District, Jefferson Union High School District, San Mateo Union High School District, Menlo Park Fire Protection District, Peninsula Health Care District, Sequoia Healthcare District, City Of Brisbane, City Of Burlingame, Town Of Colma, City Of Daly City, City Of East Palo Alto, Town Of Hillsborough, City Of Menlo Park, City Of Pacifica, Town Of Portola Valley in conjunction with the Consolidated Special Statewide Election to be held on Tuesday, November 7, 2006; and

WHEREAS, in consideration of services and supplies provided by the Chief Elections officer, the County of San Mateo, Bayshore School District, Cabrillo Unified School District, Menlo Park City Elementary School District, Ravenswood City School District, San Mateo County Board Of Education, South San Francisco Unified School District, La Honda-Pescadero Unified School District, Jefferson Union High School District, San Mateo Union High School District, Menlo Park Fire Protection District, Peninsula Health Care District, Sequoia Healthcare District, City Of Brisbane, City Of Burlingame, Town Of Colma, City Of Daly City, City Of East Palo Alto, Town Of Hillsborough, City Of Menlo Park, City Of Pacifica, Town Of Portola Valley will reimburse the County for the costs of these services and supplies.

 

NOW, THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY DETERMINED AND ORDERED that the Board of Supervisors authorizes the Chief Elections Officer to render specified election services for the November 7, 2006 General Election.
