BOARD OF SUPERVISORS, COUNTY OF SAN MATEO, SITTING AS THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS OF THE HOUSING AUTHORITY OF THE COUNTY OF SAN MATEO, STATE OF CALIFORNIA

RESOLUTION AWARDING AND AUTHORIZING THE EXECUTION OF AN AGREEMENT WITH CHAPPIE’S BUILDING CONSTRUCTION, INC. FOR AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $218,068 FOR REHABILITATION WORK AT 2 BUILDINGS AT MIDWAY VILLAGE FOR A TERM OF SEPTEMBER 26, 2006 THROUGH DECEMBER 31, 2006

RESOLVED, by the Board of Supervisors of the County of San Mateo, sitting as the Board of Commissioners of the Housing Authority of the County of San Mateo, State of California, that

 

WHEREAS, on April 20, 2004 your Board adopted Resolution 619-C which approved a revised Procurement Policy which met the requirements of the Department of Housing and Urban Development; and

 

WHEREAS, the Procurement Policy requires that procurements under the Capital Fund Program requires the use of sealed bidding for construction contracts exceeding the small purchase limitation; and

 

WHEREAS, the rehabilitation work for two buildings at Midway Village exceeded the small purchase limitation and was to be financed by the Capital Fund Program; and

 

WHEREAS, Staff undertook a competitive bidding process which complies with the Procurement Policy to solicit bidders, and Chappie’s Building Construction Inc. submitted the only bid; and

 

WHEREAS, there is sufficient funding to carry out the work and the contractor is ready, willing and able to perform the work; and

 

WHEREAS, there has been presented to this Board of Commissioners for its consideration and acceptance an Agreement between the Housing Authority of the County of San Mateo and Chappie’s Building Construction, Inc. to perform the necessary work for an amount not to exceed $218,068 for a term of September 26, 2006 through December 31, 2006.

 

NOW, THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY DETERMINED, RESOLVED AND ORDERED that the contract be awarded to Chappie’s Building Construction, Inc. and that the President of this Board of Commissioners be, and is hereby authorized and directed to execute the Agreement for and on behalf of the Housing Authority of the County of San Mateo, and the Clerk of the Board shall attest the President’s signature thereto.

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Director of the Department of Housing shall be authorized to execute subsequent change orders, provided however, that the cumulative cost of such change orders is not to exceed $25,000.
