THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS
COUNTY OF SAN MATEO, STATE OF CALIFORNIA

RESOLUTION HONORING AND COMMENDING

 

MARY GRIFFIN

AS MILLBRAE’S

2006 WOMAN OF THE YEAR

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

WHEREAS, it has come to the attention of the Board of Supervisors of the County of San Mateo, State of California, that MARY GRIFFIN is being honored at Millbrae’s 34th Annual Millbrae Man & Woman of the Year Awards Dinner for outstanding voluntary service to the community; and

   

WHEREAS, MARY GRIFFIN has dedicated her life to serving the less fortunate with an emphasis on support for, and involvement with, children, family issues and the elderly, and has worked passionately to improve the quality of life for underprivileged children and families; and

   

WHEREAS, MARY GRIFFIN, as a resident of Millbrae since 1967, has utilized creative energy to support the community through various volunteer organizations; and

   

WHEREAS, MARY GRIFFIN has performed humanitarian service that has been outstanding and selfless, contributing countless hours of charity work to improve the quality of education, health care, and recreation opportunities for the citizenry of Millbrae; and

   

WHEREAS, MARY GRIFFIN has forged a path of exemplary volunteer service for our community, as demonstrated by her many achievements, including founding the Children’s Executive Council, helping to raise funds to build the Family Visitation Center, initiating the development and implementation of the Sexual Assault Forensic Examination Room (SAFE Center), helping to establish the Share-a-Bear Program, and assisting in the development of PALCARE, Our Place, Garfield School Childcare, the Superior Court Children’s waiting room, and the San Mateo County Children’s Report Card.

   

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors of the County of San Mateo, State of California, on this 20th day of October, two thousand and six, hereby honors and commends MARY GRIFFIN as Millbrae’s 2006 Woman of the Year for her outstanding volunteer service. The citizens of Millbrae and San Mateo County have greatly benefited from the efforts of MARY GRIFFIN. The Board of Supervisors extends its heartfelt appreciation and congratulations.
