THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS
COUNTY OF SAN MATEO, STATE OF CALIFORNIA

RESOLUTION HONORING AND COMMENDING
|
|
|
MEL PINCUS
AS MILLBRAE’S
2006 MAN OF THE YEAR
|

|
WHEREAS, it has come to the attention of the Board of Supervisors of the County of San Mateo, State of California, that MEL PINCUS is being honored at Millbrae’s 34th Annual Millbrae Man & Woman of the Year Awards Dinner for outstanding voluntary service to the community; and
|
|
|
|
WHEREAS, MEL PINCUS has been an outstanding figure in making Millbrae’s vision of a new library a reality by serving as a member of the task force that initiated the campaign to build the library and as chair of the Library Oversight Committee; and
|
|
|
|
WHEREAS, MEL PINCUS has contributed twenty years of volunteer service as an accountant to the Friends of the Millbrae Library, untiringly volunteering in book sales, the Story Time on Garden Lane project, and as chairman of the Library Finance Committee; and
|
|
|
|
WHEREAS, MEL PINCUS is deeply dedicated to public service and has made outstanding contributions in Millbrae as a member of the BART advisory group to the Millbrae City Council, and co-chair of the successful “No on G” campaign resulting in future garage space for the Millbrae BART station; and
|
|
|
|
WHEREAS, MEL PINCUS has volunteered his time and energy for the betterment of the community by serving as a member of the Parent-Teacher’s Association at Spring Valley School, Taylor Middle School, and Mills High School, as a Board member of the San Mateo County Parks and Recreation Commission, Board member of the Peninsula Temple Sholom, Chairman of the Religious School Committee, an original member of Paintbrush Diplomacy, member of the Executive and Advisory Board of the Emeritus Institute of San Mateo Community College District, member of the San Mateo County Grand Jury, chairperson of the Fiscal/Budget and Special Districts/Cities Committees, and member of the Millbrae Historical Society.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors of the County of San Mateo, State of California, on this 20th day of October, two thousand and six, hereby honors and commends MEL PINCUS as Millbrae’s 2006 Man of the Year for his outstanding volunteer service. The citizens of Millbrae and San Mateo County have greatly benefited from the efforts of MEL PINCUS. The Board of Supervisors extends its heartfelt appreciation and congratulations.
