THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS COUNTY OF SAN MATEO, STATE OF CALIFORNIA
*PROCLAMATION DESIGNATING THE OCTOBER 7, 2006 AS*

*ITALIAN AMERICAN HERITAGE DAY*
* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *
	*PROCLAIMED, by the Board of Supervisors of the County of San Mateo, State of California, that*

	WHEREAS, the highlight event of Columbus Day in San Mateo County is the ITALIAN AMERICAN HERITAGE Celebration on October 7, 2006 at the Old County Court House in Redwood City; and

	WHEREAS, the history of San Mateo County has been greatly influenced by the significant contributions of Italian immigrants who came to San Mateo County from Italy to live and work here and became good American citizens and proud residents of San Mateo County; and

	*WHEREAS, San Mateo County has benefited greatly from ITALIAN AMERICAN contributions to the growth and prosperity of San Mateo County; and*

	*WHEREAS, San Mateo County prides itself for being a county that supports the community activity of all ethnic groups who have contributed to the culture and the spirit of our great community; and*

	WHEREAS, the net proceeds of this year’s Columbus Day Celebration shall be donated to a nonprofit corporation to help Louis DeMatteis produce a historical documentary film on the lives and times of Italians and their families who immigrated to San Mateo County and who helped San Mateo County to grow into the fine and outstanding community it is today,

	NOW, THEREFORE, the Board of Supervisors of the County of San Mateo, State of California, hereby proclaims October 7, 2006 as “ITALIAN AMERICAN HERITAGE DAY” and commends the Columbus Day Committee and all of the sponsors and attendees of the Columbus Day Celebration and wishes them much success with this event and for continuing success in future years.
