RESOLUTION HONORING AND COMMENDING | ||||
OFFICER RHONDA LEIPELT | ||||

WHEREAS, on this 17th day of October, two thousand and six, OFFICER RHONDA LEIPELT is honored for her dedication and exemplary service to victims of domestic violence and their children through her tireless efforts as an advocate, her innovation in improving the coordinated response to domestic violence and her passion for making law enforcement an effective partner in the community effort to end domestic violence; and | ||||
WHEREAS, OFFICER RHONDA LEIPELT has been a respected member of the Redwood City Police Department since 1994 serving as a detective, a community policing officer and currently as a patrol officer; and | ||||
WHEREAS, OFFICER RHONDA LEIPELT has been part of the task force developing the coordinated response to co-occurring domestic violence and child abuse for the past four years, was instrumental in involving Redwood City Police Department as a pilot city to test the process; and | ||||
WHEREAS, OFFICER RHONDA LEIPELT has provided a wealth of knowledge and has represented a law enforcement perspective in collaborative efforts with community partners to develop a safety protocol for a proposed home visiting intervention program and a standardized method for collecting and sharing data on domestic violence cases; and | ||||
WHEREAS, OFFICER RHONDA LEIPELT is regarded as a domestic violence expert, has served as an expert witness in domestic violence cases and is often consulted by her peers in law enforcement; and | ||||
WHEREAS, OFFICER RHONDA LEIPELT has served with distinction, displaying compassion and innovation as she works tirelessly to make our community a safer place to live for victims of domestic violence and their children. | ||||
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors of San Mateo County, on this 17th day of October, two thousand and six, expresses congratulations and sincere gratitude to OFFICER RHONDA LEIPELT as the recipient of the Barbara Hammerman Domestic Violence Law Enforcement Award for her dedication and exemplary service to victims of domestic violence. The citizens of Redwood City and San Mateo County have greatly benefited from the efforts of OFFICER RHONDA LEIPELT. The Board of Supervisors extends its heartfelt appreciation and best wishes for continued success. | ||||
