Honorable Board of Supervisors

FROM:
Charlene A. Silva, Director, Health Department
Gail Raabe, Agricultural Commissioner/Sealer
SUBJECT:
Fee Schedule for the Agricultural Commissioner
RECOMMENDATION:
Adopt a resolution re-establishing the fee schedule for the Agricultural Commissioner.
VISION ALIGNMENT:
Commitment: Responsive, effective and collaborative government
Goal: Government decisions are based on careful consideration of future impact, rather than temporary relief or immediate gain
This proposed resolution contributes to these commitments and goals by maintaining a proper relationship between costs and revenues and by assuring that those who utilize County services pay the cost of providing those services, rather than receiving a subsidy from taxpayers and thereby diverting resources from other needed programs without a source of cost recovery.
BACKGROUND:
The Board of Supervisors previously adopted the schedule of fees for the Agricultural Commissioner by ordinance. Ordinance changes approved by your Board at its meeting on August 15, 2006 allow these fees to be established by resolution rather than by ordinance.
DISCUSSION:
This resolution will maintain, with no changes, the Agricultural Commissioner current fee structure that was previously contained in the Ordinance Code. This resolution has been reviewed by County Counsel.
FISCAL IMPACT:
There is no fiscal impact to this resolution. Agricultural Commissioner fees for agricultural services will remain at the same levels that were previously established by ordinance. There is no Net County Cost associated with this resolution. The revenue from fees was included in the Agricultural Commissioner/Sealer Division’s FY 2006-07 Adopted Budget.
