FROM:

SUBJECT:
Appointment to the California State Association of Counties (CSAC) Board
Recommendation
Background
Under the provisions of the CSAC Constitution, members of the Board of Directors and alternates are elected by their respective Board of Supervisors to one-year terms of office commencing with the first day of the CSAC annual conference in November.

Discussion
It has come to the attention of my office that more than one alternate may be named to represent San Mateo County on the CSAC Board. In the event that neither the current member nor the current alternate could attend a CSAC meeting, having an additional alternate to represent our county would prove useful.

Vision Alignment
This recommendation keeps the commitment of responsive, effective and collaborative government through goal 23: Leaders throughout the County provide the impetus for broader regional solutions in land use, housing, childcare, education, health and transportation.
