SUBJECT: |
Addition of Office Assistant II Position
RECOMMENDATION | ||
Adopt an ordinance amending the Salary Ordinance adding one Office Assistant II position to Administration and Support Services.
VISION ALIGNMENT | ||
Commitment: Responsive, effective and collaborative government.
Goal(s): 21. County employees understand, support and integrate the County vision and goals into their delivery of services.
The addition of an Office Assistant position will enable the Department to collect monies owed for expired permits in a timely manner to ensure that building projects are completed, as well as provide much needed assistance to records management and reception services to the public.
BACKGROUND | ||
There has been an ongoing need for an administrative support position to process on a regular basis the notices sent to applicants to collect fees for expired building permits. Additionally, assistance is required to handle special projects such as indexing files for imaging and preparing files for microfilming, as well as providing coverage for reception and related duties.
DISCUSSION | ||
To provide for these administrative support duties, intermittent extra help has been employed in the past. Due to the ongoing growing need for these services, we are requesting approval of the addition of a full-time permanent position to execute these responsibilities on a continuing basis.
FISCAL IMPACT | ||
The funding of $29,310 for the Office Assistant II position for the remainder of fiscal year 2006-07 will initially come from salary savings in the current fiscal year. Future funding will be budgeted from revenue generated from the expired building permit program that is realized by this position. There is no Net County Cost.
