RESOLUTION WAIVING THE REQUEST FOR PROPOSAL PROCESS AND AUTHORIZING THE COUNTY PURCHASING AGENT TO ISSUE A PURCHASE ORDER TO INTERNATIONAL BUSINESS MACHINES (IBM) FOR SOFTWARE LICENSE AND SUPPORT AND AUTHORIZING THE CHIEF INFORMATION OFFICER TO EXTEND THE AGREEMENT FOR TWO OPTIONAL ONE-YEAR EXTENSIONS

RESOLVED, by the Board of Supervisors of the County of San Mateo, State of California, that

WHEREAS, there has been presented to this Board of Supervisors for its consideration and acceptance a request to authorize the County Purchasing Agent to issue a purchase order to IBM in an amount not to exceed $300,000 to provide software license and support for the term December 1, 2006 to November 30, 2007 with an option to renew for two additional one-year terms;

WHEREAS, this Board has authorized the waiver of the Request for Proposal process as it has been determined in the best interest of the County since IBM is the only vendor who can provide this service;

WHEREAS, this Board has authorized the Chief Information Officer to extend this Agreement for two optional one-year extensions if in the best interest of the County;

NOW, THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY DETERMINED AND ORDERED 1) the Request for Proposal process is waived; 2) the County Purchasing Agent is authorized to issue a purchase order to IBM in an amount not to exceed $300,000 3) the Chief Information Officer is authorized to extend the Agreement for two optional one-year extensions if in the best interest of the County; the President of the Board of Supervisors is authorized and directed to execute said Agreement as is approved by the County Counsel for and on behalf of the County of San Mateo, and the Clerk of this Board shall attest the President’s signature thereto.
