RESOLUTION 1) AUTHORIZING ACCEPTANCE OF A GRANT AWARD

IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $38,390 FROM PPD DEVELOPMENT, LP

TO CONDUCT A CLINICAL STUDY WITH HEPATITIS B PATIENTS WHO ARE

LAMIVUDINE RESISTANT AND 2) AUTHORIZING THE EXECUTION OF AN

AGREEMENT WITH PPD DEVELOPMENT, LP TO CONDUCT THE CLINICAL

TRIAL FOR THE TERM SEPTEMBER 1, 2006 TO DECEMBER 31, 2008,

IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $38,390

RESOLVED, by the Board of Supervisors of the County of San Mateo, State of California, that

WHEREAS, there has been presented to this Board of Supervisors for its consideration and acceptance an Award, reference to which is hereby made for further particulars, whereby PPD Development, LP. will allocate funds in an amount not to exceed $38,390 for the provision of a clinical trial for persons with Chronic Hepatitis B; and

WHEREAS, there has been presented to this Board of Supervisors for its consideration and acceptance an Agreement with PPD Development to conduct said clinical trial for the term September 1, 2006 to December 31, 2008, in an amount not to exceed $38,390; and

WHEREAS, this Board has been presented with a form of the Award and the Agreement and has examined and approved both as to both form and content and desires to accept the award and enter into the Agreement.

NOW, THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY DETERMINED that the President of this Board of Supervisors be, and is hereby authorized and directed to accept said award and execute said Agreement for and on behalf of the County of San Mateo, and the Clerk of this Board shall attest the President's signatures thereto.
