RESOLUTION HONORING AND COMMENDING | ||||
THE CITY OF MILLBRAE “PUTTING WASTE TO WORK” PROJECT | ||||

WHEREAS, the City of Millbrae is implementing an innovative project that uses common urban waste to naturally produce biogas for generating reliable renewable electricity to treat the City’s wastewater, and | ||||
WHEREAS, the City of Millbrae is using waste as a renewable resource to efficiently reduce public costs, lower air emissions, benefit the environment, save energy, and even generate revenue, and | ||||
WHEREAS, the project, developed by Chevron Energy Solutions, uses inedible kitchen grease from restaurants to naturally produce biogas for generating reliable power and heat to run Millbrae’s wastewater treatment plant; and | ||||
WHEREAS, the Chevron Energy Solutions project increases production of green power to 80% and provides the City with a source of electrical power independent of the utility grid; and | ||||
WHEREAS, the new facility will allow for lawful and responsible disposal of grease and reduce the emission of green house gases, which will benefit the environment. | ||||
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT PROCLAIMED that the Board of Supervisors of the County of San Mateo, State of California, on November 16, 2006, commends the City of Millbrae and Chevron Energy Solutions for partnering to increase efficiency, reduce energy consumption, and ensure reliable power for critical operations through the “Putting Waste to Work” project. | ||||
