RESOLUTION

THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS

COUNTY OF SAN MATEO, STATE OF CALIFORNIA

RESOLUTION HONORING AND COMMENDING

GLEN H. BROOKS, JR.

Upon his retirement from the County of San Mateo

WHEREAS, GLEN H. BROOKS, JR., a graduate of Arizona State University with further studies at the University of Utah, began his thirty-eight year career in Social Services as a counselor for disturbed children and their families, continued as a director of various CBOs, served for twenty-four years with the State of California in many areas, including child welfare services, state and County collaborations, quality control, training, fiscal policy and welfare reform; and,

WHEREAS, GLEN H. BROOKS, JR., served as the Self-Sufficiency Director for the San Mateo County Human Services Agency since March of 2000, was appointed Interim Director of the San Mateo County Human Services Agency in September of 2005 and was selected for the position of permanent Director in April of 2006; and

WHEREAS, GLEN H. BROOKS, JR., has initiated and supported a number of innovative programs to promote excellent service to communities, which included securing new funding to provide additional employment services to dislocated workers, instituting the Biotech Workforce Partnership in San Mateo, integrating employment services, childcare, vocational rehabilitation, health insurance, and automation with other Agency programs; and

WHEREAS, GLEN H. BROOKS, JR., has implemented major projects, which included greatly enhanced services to emancipating foster kids, CalWIN implementation, and Countywide Differential Response; led strategic planning, emphasizing plans for safety net services, for emancipating youth services, and for achieving a 10-year goal of ending homelessness; and strengthening Continuous Quality Improvement through COA accreditation, and providing services to priority populations with alcohol and other drug problems,

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors of the County of San Mateo, State of California, hereby extends their gratitude to GLEN H. BROOKS, JR., for his leadership, creativity, dedication, compassion and commitment to the people of San Mateo County and wishes him all the best in the next phase of his life.
