RESOLUTION

THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS

COUNTY OF SAN MATEO, STATE OF CALIFORNIA

RESOLUTION HONORING AND COMMENDING

NEIL CULLEN

Upon his retirement from the County of San Mateo, Department of Public Works ***************************************

WHEREAS, NEIL CULLEN was hired by the County of San Mateo as a Junior Highway Engineer on January 31, 1966, just after graduating from college; and

WHEREAS, NEIL CULLEN was promoted to Assistant Highway Engineer on March 1, 1968 and received his Civil Engineering Certification on December 22, 1969; and

WHEREAS, NEIL CULLEN was promoted to Associate Highway Engineer on September 1, 1970 and became an Associate Civil Engineer on December 1, 1972; and

WHEREAS, NEIL CULLEN was promoted to Senior Civil Engineer on November 1, 1975, to Deputy Director of Public Works on April 1, 1982, to Assistant Director of Public Works on November 14, 1982 and then, appointed as Director of the Public Works Agency on March 1, 1994; and

WHEREAS, NEIL CULLEN oversaw the merging of two major County departments (General Services and Public Works) to form the Public Works Agency and this Agency brought together a comprehensive mix of services and programs with a strong commitment to customer service and the efficient use of resources; and

WHEREAS, NEIL CULLEN has served as the Co-Chair of the City/County Association of Governments (C/CAG) Technical Advisory Committee ever since its creation in 1991 and the Committee oversees the implementation of federal and state funded transportation programs in San Mateo County,

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors of the County of San Mateo, State of California, hereby commends NEIL CULLEN for his leadership, creativity, dedication and commitment to the people of San Mateo County and wishes him all the best in the next phase of his life.
