THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS
COUNTY OF SAN MATEO, STATE OF CALIFORNIA

RESOLUTION CONGRATULATING AND COMMENDING

The San Mateo County Historical Association

Upon Completion of The

2006 Sesquicentennial Celebration

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

WHEREAS, the San Mateo County Historical Association and the San Mateo County History Museum have spearheaded the yearlong effort marking the 150th anniversary of the county’s incorporation; and

   

WHEREAS, the staff and volunteers of the association and of the museum dedicated countless hours to creating, planning and executing more than 25 events and activities throughout the year, ranging from informative chautauquas to detailed new exhibits to a professionally produced documentary film; and

   

WHEREAS, the actual costs of the celebrations are measurable in dollars and cents, the net results in terms of educational value, posterity and instilling a sense of history in young people are immeasurably priceless, and

   

WHEREAS, the association and the museum played tremendous roles in ensuring all groups and aspects of such a diverse region were included in the overwhelmingly successful commemoration of 2006 as San Mateo County’s sesquicentennial year.

   

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors of San Mateo County congratulates and commends the San Mateo County Historical Association and the San Mateo County History Museum on a job well done in marking the county’s sesquicentennial. The Board hereby extends its gratitude and adds sincere wishes to the association and the museum for at least another 150 years of continued success and excellence.
