THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS

COUNTY OF SAN MATEO, STATE OF CALIFORNIA

RESOLUTION HONORING AND COMMENDING

OFFICER LAURA RAMIREZ

2006 Women In County Government Self Development Award Recipient ***************************************

 

WHEREAS, OFFICER LAURA RAMIREZ began her career with the San Mateo County Probation Department in 1993 as a Public Service Specialist and, in addition to performing all routine receptionist duties, she was a valuable bilingual resource that served officers, probationers, attorneys, and others needing assistance; and

   
 

WHEREAS, OFFICER LAURA RAMIREZ expanded her skills by gaining a familiarity with the role and duties of probation officers and, after seven years, she was promoted to Legal Office Assistant and assisted probation officers who supervised substance abusers, performing all duties involving case processing and assisting the officer in orienting large groups of probationers with their conditions of probation and treatment information; and

   
 

WHEREAS, OFFICER LAURA RAMIREZ continued demonstrating outstanding clerical skills while building a solid knowledge base of probation procedures, including a growing expertise in all manner of court documents and case supervision and, as a result, was assigned to work “out-of-class” as a Legal Office Services Supervisor; and

 

 

WHEREAS, after much hard work at self development, OFFICER LAURA RAMIREZ was promoted to the position of Deputy Probation Officer assigned to the highly sensitive Domestic Violence Unit on August 29, 2004, in recognition of her excellent reputation, professionalism, and passion for the job; and

   
 

WHEREAS, OFFICER LAURA RAMIREZ is now completing the training necessary to be one of the department’s first armed officers, due to the volatile nature of the unit in which she serves, and has already received a commendation from the department’s firearm training officers for her skill and professionalism,

   
 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors of the County of San Mateo, State of California, hereby extends their hearty congratulations to OFFICER LAURA RAMIREZ on being the recipient of the Women In County Government’s 2006 Self Development Award and wishes her continued success in the years to come.
