RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE SHERIFF TO EXECUTE AN AGREEMENT WITH THE CITY AND COUNTY OF SAN FRANCISCO FOR THE DISTRIBUTION OF $178,000 TO THE COUNTY OF SAN MATEO AS PART OF THE

FY 2003 URBAN AREA SECURITY INITIATIVE GRANT.

RESOLVED, by the Board of Supervisors of the County of San Mateo, State of California, that

 

WHEREAS, in 2003, the City and County of San Francisco was awarded funding through the FY2003 Urban Area Security Initiative (UASI) grant, distributed through the California Office of Homeland Security, to enhance the ability to prevent, deter, respond to, and recover from threats and incidents of terrorism and natural disasters; and

 

WHEREAS, the San Francisco Office of Emergency Services (SFOES) serves as the local administrator for the FY2003 UASI grant award, and has advised the County of San Mateo of the availability of grant funds in the amount of One Hundred Seventy-Eight Thousand Dollars ($178,000), to be used for Community Emergency response Team (CERT) equipment, storage, amateur radio equipment, and confined space rescue equipment for County fire services.

 

WHEREAS, as part of the FY2003 grant requirements, the County of San Mateo must enter into an Agreement with the City and County of San Francisco before December 31, 2006 to receive a portion of the grant award, in the amount of One Hundred Seventy-Eight Thousand Dollars ($178,000); and

 

WHEREAS, this Board wishes to authorize the Sheriff to execute the agreement with the City and County of San Francisco, in order to receive funding which will enhance the ability to prevent, deter, respond to and recover from threats and incidents of terrorism.

 

NOW THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY DETERMINED AND ORDERED that the Sheriff is hereby authorized to enter into an agreement with the City and County of San Francisco, for FY 2003 Urban Area Security Initiative (UASI) grant funds in the amount of One Hundred Seventy-Eight Thousand Dollars ($178,000), subject to the County Counsel’s review of the form of the agreement.
