Appointments to the Youth Commission

 

RECOMMENDATION:

It is recommended that the Board of Supervisors appoint the youth listed below as members to the Youth Commission.

 

VISION ALIGNMENT:

 

    1. Our diverse population works well together to build strong communities, effective government and a prosperous economy;

    2. Civic engagement -- including voting, public service, charitable giving, volunteerism, and participation in public discussions of important issues -- is uniformly high among the diverse population of San Mateo County.

 

BACKGROUND:

The Board of Supervisors is responsible for appointing new members to the Youth Commission, based on recommendations from it Program Director. The Program Director found that these 16 youth are qualified to serve on the Youth Commission.

Each Youth Commissioner is appointed for a term lasting until their graduation, resignation from the Commission, or transfer from their current school.

 

DISCUSSION:

It is recommended that the Board of Supervisors appoint the following youth as members to the Youth Commission:

2. Amy Cheuk Mills High First Five Commission

3. Bertram Ieong Mills High Parks and Recreation

4. Claire Jun Mills High Commission on Aging

5. Terry Kawi Mills High Exposition and Fair Assoc.

6. Minn Oh Mills High Daly City Youth Health Center

7. Jeffrey Shu Aragon High Fatherhood Collaborative

8. Samantha Smiley Notre Dame High Commission on the Status of Women

9. Eddie Hu San Mateo High ATOD Advisory Board

10. Joseph Ha Mills High Commission on Disabilities

11. Alexa Leung Carlmont High Commission on the Status of Women

12. Aiyanna Mourtos Middle College ATOD Advisory Board

13. Anna Murveit Menlo Atherton H.I.V. Prevention Planning Council

14. Amandine Redington Middle College ATOD Advisory Board
