RESOLUTION SUPPORTING THE SAN MATEO COUNTY DEPARTMENT OF CHILD SUPPORT SERVICES’ PARTICIPATION IN THE EXPEDITED MODIFICATIONS PILOT PROJECT ESTABLISHED BY SB 1483

RESOLVED, by the Board of Supervisors of the County of San Mateo, State of California, that

WHEREAS, on September 30, 2006, the Governor of California approved Senate Bill No. 1483 establishing a child support pilot project for an expedited modification process for specified child support orders for the Counties of Alameda, Fresno, Orange, San Mateo and Santa Clara; and

WHEREAS, federal law requires the state to have an expedited process for adjustment of child support orders; and

WHEREAS, participation by the San Mateo County Department of Child Support Services in the pilot project will contribute to the project’s success thereby benefiting families and children in California; and

WHEREAS, participation by the San Mateo Department of Child Support Services in the pilot project is contingent upon an approved resolution from the Board of Supervisors

NOW, THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY DETERMINED AND ORDERED that the Board of Supervisors authorized the San Mateo County Department of Child Support Services to participate in the child support pilot project in accordance with Senate Bill 1483.
