RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE DISTRICT ATTORNEY TO SUBMIT GRANT PROPOSALS TO THE CALIFORNIA DEPARTMENT OF INSURANCE FOR PROGRAMS FOR INVESTIGATION AND PROSECUTION OF AUTOMOBILE AND WORKERS’ COMPENSATION INSURANCE FRAUD

RESOLVED, by the Board of Supervisors of the County of San Mateo, State of California, that

 

WHEREAS, the San Mateo County District Attorney desires to continue its Automobile Insurance Fraud Program and Workers’ Compensation Insurance Fraud Program, both of which are routinely funded by grant monies applied for and received from the State of California as administered through the California Department of Insurance;

 

WHEREAS, each year, in order to apply for and receive such grant monies for such projects, the San Mateo County District Attorney must draft and submit Board Memos and Resolutions authorizing the District Attorney’s office to apply for said grants, to accept said grant monies, and to execute the related grant award agreements; and

 

WHEREAS, on July 25, 2006, this Board previously authorized the District Attorney’s office to apply for said grants, to accept said grant monies, and to execute the related grant award agreements for the 2006-2007 fiscal year; and

 

WHEREAS, in the interests of efficiency, the San Mateo County District Attorney is requesting that that this Board authorize the District Attorney’s office to apply for and accept the above-referenced grant monies through and including the Fiscal Year 2008-2009; and

 

WHEREAS, this Board has previously approved such standing resolutions with respect to the District Attorney’s application for and acceptance of grant monies related to its Statutory Rape Prosecution Program through the Fiscal Year 2008-2009;

 

NOW THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY DETERMINED AND ORDERED that the District Attorney of the County of San Mateo, on behalf of the Board of Supervisors, is authorized to submit grant applications to California Department of Insurance for grant monies for the District Attorney’s Office’s Automobile Insurance Fraud Program and Workers’ Compensation Insurance Fraud Program, and is authorized to execute grant award agreements related to the acceptance of such grants, including any extensions or amendments thereof, which do not require commitment of County funds.
