Resolution Authorizing the Director of Public Works to Prepare Plans and Specifications and Proceed with Revised Project Bid/Advertisement Procedures for Sewer Maintenance/Rehabilitation Type Projects

RESOLVED, by the Board of Supervisors of the County of San Mateo, State of California, that

WHEREAS, the Public Contract Code and County Ordinance Code provide that County contracts over $100,000 must be approved by this Board; and

WHEREAS, the Director of Public Works has recommended reducing the length of time currently required to proceed through the contract bid and award process for sewer maintenance/rehabilitation type projects valued at over $100,000 in order to reduce costs and to afford the maximum time available for the construction of said projects; and

WHEREAS, the time to process a project can be reduced by eliminating the need for this Board to adopt a resolution calling for bids by authorizing the Director of Public Works to call for bids for sewer maintenance/rehabilitation type projects; and

WHEREAS, this Board has reviewed and concurs in the recommendation of the Director of Public Works.

NOW THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY DETERMINED AND ORDERED that the Director of Public Works is:

1.

authorized to develop plans and specifications and call for bids for sewer inspection, maintenance, and rehabilitation projects, which plans may be adopted by this Board at the time the resulting contract is considered and awarded, and

2.

directed to report to this Board with recommendations on awarding contracts for said projects that are valued over $100,000 to the lowest responsible bidder for said projects once bids are received and confirmed.
