RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING AND DIRECTING THE PRESIDENT OF THE BOARD TO EXECUTE AND AUTHORIZE AN AMENDMENT TO THE AGREEMENT WITH THE COUNTY MANAGER TO PROVIDE FOR A FIVE PERCENT MERIT INCREASE IN SALARY

RESOLVED, by the Board of Supervisors of the County of San Mateo, State of California, that

WHEREAS, on November 15, 2005, the Board entered into an amended and restated agreement with John L. Maltbie to serve as County Manager; and

WHEREAS, the agreement provides that the Board will conduct a performance evaluation on a yearly basis, and consider whether a merit increase in salary of up to five percent (5%) should be granted, retroactive to January 1 of the year in which the increase is granted; and

WHEREAS, on February 13, 2007, the Board conducted a performance evaluation of the County Manager, and as a result, determined to award him a five percent (5%) raise, retroactive to January 1, 2007; and

WHEREAS, an amendment to the agreement has been prepared and presented to this Board reflecting this merit increase, and the Board now desires to enter into same;

NOW THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY DETERMINED AND ORDERED, that the President of the Board of Supervisors is authorized and directed to execute an amendment to the agreement for the services of the County Manager to provide for a five percent (5%) merit increase in salary retroactive to January 1, 2007, and the Clerk of the Board shall attest to the President’s signature thereto.
