Resolution Authorizing the Director of Public Works to Execute a Cost Sharing Agreement between the County of San Mateo and the City of Redwood City for the Resurfacing of Bay Road between Second Avenue and Florence Street in the Redwood City/North Fair Oaks Area

RESOLVED, by the Board of Supervisors of the County of San Mateo, State of California, that

 

WHEREAS, the City of Redwood City (City) is proposing to resurface Bay Road between Second Avenue and Florence Street in the Redwood City/North Fair Oaks area; and

 

WHEREAS, the portion of Bay Road to be resurfaced lies within both the corporate limits of the City and the unincorporated area of the County of San Mateo (County), as shown on Exhibit “A” attached hereto; and

 

WHEREAS, Federal Grant funds up to $306,195 are available to finance this project; and

 

WHEREAS, both the City and County are desirous of having this portion of Bay Road resurfaced utilizing available grant funding; and

 

WHEREAS, the City proposes to administer the combined City-County resurfacing project; and

 

WHEREAS, the City has prepared a form of Agreement for the signature of the County’s Director of Public Works, which would allow for a cost share split in accordance with the work performed in each jurisdiction; and

 

WHEREAS, County staff has reviewed the terms of the Agreement and estimated County cost of $138,000 for the work and agrees that the terms and estimated cost are reasonable.

 

NOW, THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY DETERMINED AND ORDERED as follows:

 

1.

That the Director of Public Works is hereby authorized and directed to execute said Agreement on behalf of the County of San Mateo and the signature of the Clerk of this Board shall attest thereto.

 

2.

That the Director of Public Works is authorized to execute amendments to the contract not to exceed $20,000, provided that the Director of Public Works agrees that the extra costs are warranted in order to complete the improvements within the County jurisdiction.

 

3.

That the Clerk of the Board of Supervisors, County of San Mateo, is hereby authorized and directed to send a certified copy of this Resolution and the executed duplicate original of the Agreement to the City Clerk of the City of Redwood City.
