BOARD OF SUPERVISORS, COUNTY OF SAN MATEO, STATE OF CALIFORNIA

RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE EXECUTION OF AN AGREEMENT WITH THE CITY AND COUNTY OF SAN FRANCISCO FOR DISTRIBUTION OF ADDITIONAL FUNDS TO SAN MATEO COUNTY AS PART OF THE FISCAL YEAR 2005 URBAN AREA SECURITY INITIATIVE FEDERAL GRANT

RESOLVED, by the Board of Supervisors of the County of San Mateo, State of California, that:

WHEREAS, in 2005, the City and County of San Francisco was awarded funding through the Fiscal Year 2005 Urban Area Security Initiative (FY05 UASI) grant, distributed through the California Office of Homeland Security, to enhance the ability to prevent, deter, respond to, and recover from threats and incidents of terrorism and natural disasters; and

WHEREAS, the San Francisco Office of Emergency Services (SFOES) serves as the local administrator for the FY05 UASI grant award; and

WHEREAS, on April 6, 2006, the County entered into an Agreement (Resolution No. 67912) with the City and County of San Francisco, as part of the FY05 UASI grant, to receive a portion of the grant award in the amount of Seven Hundred Fifty Thousand Dollars ($750,000), which was designated to fund four senior-level positions to co-locate with SFOES and to participate in regional planning, training, and development of regional preparedness exercises; and

WHEREAS, SFOES has offered the County unexpended FY05 UASI funds totaling Four Hundred Fifty Thousand Dollars ($450,000) which were initially allocated to other counties but which have not been fully expended; and

WHEREAS, through partners in law enforcement, fire services and in conjunction with County Purchasing Division, the San Mateo County Sheriff's Office of Emergency Services has developed a plan for expenditure of the additional funds; and

WHEREAS, SFOES now wishes to enter into an Agreement to distribute $450,000 in FY2005 UASI funds to the County of San Mateo, which will be used to purchase 12 shelter support trailers; and

WHEREAS, this Board has been presented with a form of such Agreement, and has examined and approved same as to both form and content, and desires to enter into same:

NOW THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY DETERMINED AND ORDERED THAT the President of this Board of Supervisors be, and is hereby authorized to, execute the Agreement with the City and County of San Francisco, for and on behalf of the County of San Mateo, and the Clerk of this Board of Supervisors shall attest the President’s signature thereto.
