BOARD OF SUPERVISORS, COUNTY OF SAN MATEO, STATE OF CALIFORNIA

RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING ACCEPTING A DONATION OF $10,000 FROM THE CALIFORNIA STATE AUTOMOBILE ASSOCIATION

RESOLVED, by the Board of Supervisors of the County of San Mateo, State of California, that

WHEREAS, the California State Automobile Association (CSAA) wishes to donate $10,000 to the Vehicle Theft Task Force (VTTF); and

WHEREAS, said donation will be used to purchase of the Automated License Plate Recognition (ALPR) System; and

WHEREAS, the ALPR System has the capability of capturing images of vehicle license plates and comparing them to a database of reported stolen vehicles; and

WHEREAS, by obtaining the ALPR System the VTTF will be able to increase the number of recovered stolen vehicles as well as the arrests of the individuals responsible for the thefts; and

WHEREAS, this Board has been requested by the Sheriff to accept said donation for and on behalf of the County of San Mateo, and finds it necessary and desirable to do so;

NOW THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY DETERMINED AND ORDERED THAT THE Board of Supervisors hereby accepts the California State Automobile Association's donation of $10,000 to the VTTF, for and on behalf of the County of San Mateo, and offers its thanks to the California State Automobile Association for the generous donation.
