BOARD OF SUPERVISORS, COUNTY OF SAN MATEO, STATE OF CALIFORNIA

RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE PRESIDENT OF THE BOARD TO EXECUTE AN AMENDMENT TO THE MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING WITH THE UNION OF AMERICAN PHYSICIANS AND DENTISTS – ESTABLISHING THE PEDIATRIC ON-CALL RATE OF PAY

RESOLVED, by the Board of Supervisors of the County of San Mateo, State of California, that

WHEREAS, there has been presented to this Board for its consideration, an Amendment to the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Union of American Physicians and Dentists (UAPD) which effective with the pay period beginning March 11, 2007 provides for:

a) Pediatricians assigned to be in on-call status to be paid an hourly rate of Sixteen Dollars ($16.00) effective March 25, 2007. This on-call rate shall increase to Twenty Dollars ($20.00) effective July 1, 2007, and to Twenty-Five Dollars ($25.00) effective June 29, 2008.

b) a call schedule, defined as Weeknight call (15 hours) from 5:00 p.m. – 8:00 a.m., Weekend call (24 hours) from 8:00 a.m. – 8:00 a.m., and Holiday call (24 hours) from 8:00 a.m. – 8:00 a.m.

c) a minimum of three (3) hours of call-back pay for Pediatricians if required to report back to work while in an on-call status.

WHEREAS, the Human Resources Department Director and the Chief Executive Officer of the San Mateo Medical Center have recommended that said Amendment be approved; and

WHEREAS, this Board of Supervisors considered the recommendation of both the Director of Human Resources and the Chief Executive Officer of the San Mateo Medical Center.

NOW, THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY DETERMINED AND ORDERED that the Board of Supervisors. hereby approves said Amendment to the Memorandum of Understanding with the Union of American Physicians and Dentists; and the President of this Board of Supervisors is hereby authorized and directed to execute said Amendment on behalf of this Board.
