PROCLAMATION DESIGNATING THE MARCH 27, 2007 AS

 
FOSTER CITY LIONS CLUB DAY

IN CELEBRATION OF THEIR 40TH ANNIVERSARY

PROCLAIMED, by the Board of Supervisors of the County of San Mateo, State of California, that

   
 

WHEREAS, LIONS CLUBS INTERNATIONAL began as the dream of Chicago insurance man Melvin Jones on June 7, 1917 because he believed that local business clubs should expand their horizons from purely professional concerns to the betterment of their communities and the world at large; and

   
 

WHEREAS, 90 years later, LIONS CLUBS INTERNATIONAL is the world’s largest service club organization with 1.4 million members in more than 46,795 clubs, in 739 districts, in approximately 200 countries; and

   
 

WHEREAS, chartered on March 27, 1967, LIONS CLUB OF FOSTER CITY has provided 40 years of service to help its community by participating in the Sight Conservation and Hearing programs, blood drives, eye glass collection program, Rebuilding Together, and Samaritan House; and

 
 

WHEREAS, LIONS CLUB OF FOSTER CITY also offers student scholarships, assists in youth sports and senior citizen activities; supports national and international disaster relief and donates hundreds of thousands of dollars in our community; and

   
 

WHEREAS, over the past ten years, LIONS CLUB OF FOSTER CITY has been voted Club of the Year in its district the majority of times, and has won Club of the Year seven years in a row,

   
 

NOW, THEREFORE, the San Mateo County Board of Supervisors does hereby proclaim the day of March 27, 2007 as “FOSTER CITY LIONS CLUB DAY” in honor of their 40th Anniversary and gratefully commends the LIONS CLUB OF FOSTER CITY for its perseverance, dedication and loyalty in serving the community with the most highest standards and wishes them continued success in the years to come.
