THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS
COUNTY OF SAN MATEO, STATE OF CALIFORNIA

PROCLAMATION HONORING AND COMMENDING

AMERICAN RED CROSS MONTH

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

WHEREAS, American Red Cross was founded by Clara Barton on May 21, 1881; and

   

WHEREAS, American Red Cross Month was first proclaimed by President Franklin D. Roosevelt in 1943 and has been proclaimed every year since then by the President of the United States; and

   

WHEREAS, American Red Cross provides disaster relief services both at home and abroad; and

   

WHEREAS, American Red Cross consists of compassionate people, working towards the good of humanity and easing human suffering; and

   

WHEREAS, American Red Cross month is an opportunity for the public to learn more about the organization, support it through donations and be inspired to volunteer.

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors of the County of San Mateo, State of California, proclaims the month of March 2007 as American Red Cross Month, to honor the dedicated individuals who contribute tirelessly to the humanitarian efforts of the Red Cross.
