RESOLUTION CONGRATULATING AND COMMENDING

Lizeth Chavez

Upon Her Induction Into The

San Mateo County Women’s Hall of Fame

Young Woman of Excellence

WHEREAS, Lizeth Chavez stands out as a role model for her peers as well as for younger youth, especially through her tireless efforts at the Boys and Girls Club in Redwood City; and

   

WHEREAS, in addition to her academic achievements and life goals, Lizeth finds the time and energy to help others at the club, from math and English tutoring to her leadership role with the Keystone Club, a teen group focused on social, political and environmental changes; and

   

WHEREAS, at Sequoia High School, Lizeth has spent four years on the honor rolls, received multiple Student of the Day nods, plus perfect attendance through two years; and

   

WHEREAS, Lizeth is the first to offer a hand and the last to take or even claim credit; her intense modesty and humility often mask a strong woman of eloquence and confidence, someone who will continue contributing regardless of where life leads her.

   

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors of San Mateo County congratulates Lizeth Chavez upon her induction into the San Mateo County Women’s Hall of Fame as a Young Woman of Excellence, and extends to Lizeth and her family its gratitude and adds sincere wishes for continued success.

Kristin Elizabeth Costello

Upon Her Induction Into The

San Mateo County Women’s Hall of Fame

Young Woman of Excellence

WHEREAS, Kristin Elizabeth Costello, at age 8, wrote a letter to Pres. Bill Clinton expressing her desire to help; his advice to stay in school and to do her part was all the encouragement she needed; and

   

WHEREAS, Kristin immersed herself in volunteerism as a sixth grader in Project Pride, which organized food drives and “Dry Bottoms and Full Bellies,” for low-income families with infants; and

   

WHEREAS, through high school, Kristin’s involvement with Interact opened doors to projects ranging from walks for the American Cancer Society to food drives for the Pacifica Resource Center to fundraisers for Doctors Without Borders; and

   

WHEREAS, Kristin’s selfless service as a peer health counselor at the Daly City Youth Health Center underscores her commitment to her community; and

   

WHEREAS, Kristin’s drive and ambition are strong, yet focused not solely on her goals, but also on the needs of others; her steps will always be along the path of making the world a better place.

   

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors of San Mateo County congratulates Kristin Elizabeth Costello upon her induction into the San Mateo County Women’s Hall of Fame as a Young Woman of Excellence, and extends to Kristin and her family its gratitude and adds sincere wishes for continued success.

Tiffany Ling Ho

Upon Her Induction Into The

San Mateo County Women’s Hall of Fame

Young Woman of Excellence

WHEREAS, Tiffany Ling Ho is a member of the National Honor Roll and listed in Who’s Who Among American High School Students; and

   

WHEREAS, Tiffany has been recognized by the California Scholarship Federation and has logged more than 100 hours of voluntary community service; and

   

WHEREAS, in addition to her considerable academic achievements, Tiffany finds the time and energy to contribute to more than a dozen non-profit groups, including the West Orange Library in South San Francisco, Mills-Peninsula Hospital, Daly City Dolphins swim team and St. Anthony’s Dining Room in San Francisco; and

   

WHEREAS, Tiffany’s selfless dedication to her city as well as to the surrounding region sets an example for youth and adults alike; and

   

WHEREAS, Tiffany’s obvious willingness to give of herself to benefit others has benefited myriad individuals and families in at least two counties and will take her far in her chosen field of pediatric medicine.

   

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors of San Mateo County congratulates Tiffany Ho upon her induction into the San Mateo County Women’s Hall of Fame as a Young Woman of Excellence, and extends to Tiffany and her family its gratitude and adds sincere wishes for continued success.

Jasmine E. Nachtigall

Upon Her Induction Into The

San Mateo County Women’s Hall of Fame

Young Woman of Excellence

WHEREAS, Jasmine E. Nachtigall is an honors student concurrently enrolled in community college classes and is on-track to receive her associate’s degree in biological sciences simultaneously with her high school diploma; and

   

WHEREAS, in addition to her considerable academic achievements, Jasmine dedicates herself to the needs of others, including her school’s Amnesty International Club and the Best Buddies Club, which matches mainstream students with developmentally delayed students; and

   

WHEREAS, Jasmine has participated in raising some $200,000 for non-profits, including those caring for Indonesian tsunami victims and Hurricane Katrina survivors, plus Self-Help for the Elderly and the Asian American Cancer Support Network; and

   

WHEREAS, from ranked athlete to gifted musician to pageant winner, Jasmine has directed her various talents toward making her community and her world a better place for all.

   

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors of San Mateo County congratulates Jasmine E. Nachtigall upon her induction into the San Mateo County Women’s Hall of Fame as a Young Woman of Excellence, and extends to Jasmine and her family its gratitude and adds sincere wishes for continued success.
