RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE PRESIDENT OF THE BOARD TO EXECUTE AMENDMENT ONE TO THE AGREEMENTS WITH ALZHEIMER’S ASSOCIATION, NORTHERN CALIFORNIA AND NORTHERN NEVADA; CATHOLIC CHARITIES CYO; CENTER FOR INDEPENDENCE OF THE DISABLED; CITY OF DALY CITY; CITY OF EAST PALO ALTO; CITY OF MENLO PARK; CITY OF PACIFICA; CITY OF SAN BRUNO; COASTSIDE ADULT DAY HEALTH CENTER; EDGEWOOD CENTER FOR CHILDREN AND FAMILIES; FAMILY SERVICE AGENCY; LEGAL AID SOCIETY; MILLS-PENINSULA SENIOR FOCUS; NELSON/NYGAARD CONSULTING ASSOCIATES; OMBUDSMAN OF SAN MATEO, INC.; PENINSULA VOLUNTEERS, INC.; SECOND HARVEST FOOD BANK; SELF-HELP FOR THE ELDERLY; SENIOR COASTSIDERS; AND SEQUOIA HOSPITAL 1) INCREASING THE OLDER AMERICANS ACT, COMMUNITY-BASED SERVICE PROGRAMS, AND HEALTH INSURANCE COUNSELING AND ADVOCACY PROGRAM FUNDING BY $254,984 WITH NO CHANGE TO THE TERM OF JULY 1, 2006 THROUGH JUNE 30, 2007, AND 2) INCORPORATING STATE REQUIRED LANGUAGE REGARDING A GRIEVANCE PROCEDURE

RESOLVED, by the Board of Supervisors of the County of San Mateo, State of California, that

WHEREAS, this Board has designated itself as the Area Agency on Aging (AAA) of San Mateo County to carry out programs pursuant to the Older Americans Act (OAA);

 

WHEREAS, it is necessary and desirable that the AAA administer the programs of the OAA, Community-Based Services Programs (CBSP), and Health Insurance Counseling and Advocacy Program (HICAP);

 

WHEREAS, on July 18, 2006, by Resolution Number 68151, the Board of Supervisors authorized execution of 23 Agreements for an aggregate total of $3,131,214, for the term July 1, 2006 through June 30, 2007 to provide an array of services to at-risk individuals in San Mateo County;

 

WHEREAS, on May 24, 2006, the County Manager’s Office authorized execution of Agreement Number 57000-07-C003 with Nelson/Nygaard Consulting Associates in the amount of $69,000 for the term of July 1, 2006 through June 30, 2007 to provide professional and clerical support to the Paratransit Coordinating Council;

 

WHEREAS, all parties wish to amend the Agreements by increasing the OAA, CBSP, and HICAP funding amount by $254,984 thus changing the Agreements’ obligation from $3,131,214 to $3,386,198 with no change to the term of the Agreements, to provide the programs with one-time-only funding to purchase needed equipment and supplies, including outreach materials and emergency supplies that will enhance education and service delivery and protection of the county’s frail elderly population;

 

WHEREAS, all parties wish to further amend the Agreements by incorporating State required language regarding a Grievance Procedure; and

 

WHEREAS, the Board has been presented with Amendment One to the Agreements with the above mentioned providers and desires to enter into same:

 

NOW, THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY DETERMINED AND ORDERED that the President of this Board of Supervisors is hereby authorized and directed to execute said Amendments to the Agreements for and on behalf of the County of San Mateo, and the Clerk of this Board shall attest the President’s signature thereto.
