THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS
COUNTY OF SAN MATEO, STATE OF CALIFORNIA

RESOLUTION HONORING AND COMMENDING

ELAINE TIPTON

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

WHEREAS, ELAINE TIPTON began her career as a Deputy District Attorney in 1979; and

   

WHEREAS, ELAINE TIPTON has prosecuted most types of cases, including sexual assault and special circumstances murder cases, and has been a major force in San Mateo County’s efforts to end domestic violence through her leadership in creating innovative and effective law enforcement responses that have assisted the survivors of domestic violence; and

   

WHEREAS, ELAINE TIPTON has had many accomplishments fighting domestic violence, including the creation of the District Attorney’s Office Domestic Violence Unit, co-authoring the Domestic Violence Protocol of San Mateo County, and creation of the countywide domestic violence training for law enforcement; and

   

WHEREAS, in her career-long efforts against the crime of domestic violence, ELAINE TIPTON has served as a member of the San Mateo County Domestic Violence Council, Co-chairperson of the Domestic Violence Legal Process Committee, member of the Attorney General’s Report Subcommittee of Domestic Violence Legal Process, and member of the Domestic Violence Firearms Compliance Study Group of San Mateo County.

   

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors of the County of San Mateo, State of California, and the San Mateo County Domestic Violence Council, on March 29, 2007, hereby commends and honors ELAINE TIPTON for her exemplary leadership in the continuing effort to reduce the occurrence of domestic violence and assist the survivors of domestic violence crimes.
