THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS
COUNTY OF SAN MATEO, STATE OF CALIFORNIA

RESOLUTION HONORING AND COMMENDING

National Public Safety Dispatchers Week 2007

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

WHEREAS, National Public Safety Dispatchers Week was first conceived by an employee in the Contra Costa County Sheriff’s Office in 1981; and

   

WHEREAS, National Public Safety Dispatchers Week was first proclaimed by Congress in 1991 and permanently established in 1994; and

   

WHEREAS, Public Safety Dispatchers provide a critical but seldom visible linkage between the public and law enforcement, fire and emergency medical service providers; and

   

WHEREAS, Public Safety Dispatchers efficiently coordinate emergency services for both man-made and natural disasters to ensure the health and safety of our community; and

WHEREAS, San Mateo County Public Safety Dispatchers play a vital role in the protection of human life and property in our community.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors of the County of San Mateo, State of California, recognizes the week of April 8, 2007 to April 14, 2007 as National Public Safety Dispatchers Week, to honor the dedicated men and women coordinating emergency responses in our community.
