RESOLUTION APPROVING A HOUSING RELOCATION ASSISTANCE LOAN IN THE AMOUNT OF $200,000 FOR MR. GARY HORNE

RESOLVED, by the Board of Supervisors of the County of San Mateo, State of California, that

WHEREAS, the County of San Mateo’s San Mateo Medical Center (“SMMC”) has long been unable to locate appropriate candidates willing to assume the position of Pharmacy Director,

WHEREAS, this inability to locate a Pharmacy Director has required the County to enter into costly agreements with consultants to procure director services;

WHEREAS, Mr. Gary Horne, a licensed pharmacist who has provided pharmacy director services at the SMMC, has expressed willingness to assume County employment as the SMMC’s Pharmacy Director, on the condition that the County provide a housing relocation assistance loan in the amount of $200,000;

WHEREAS, the County’s Human Resources Director and the SMMC’s Chief Executive Officer have recommended that the Board approve such financial incentive to Mr. Horne.

NOW THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY DETERMINED AND ORDERED that the County shall make a housing assistance loan in the amount of $200,000 to Mr. Gary Horne and appropriate County personnel are authorized and directed to take all necessary actions in order to effectuate this Board’s intent, as expressed herein.
