NATIONAL ARCHITECT WEEK 2007

WHEREAS, April 13, 2007 marks the 150th Anniversary of the American Institute of Architects; and

   

WHEREAS, San Mateo County honors and congratulates the Institute, its 77,000 members, and the 281,000 Americans who work in architecture firms, for their many contributions to our nation, state, and county; and

   

WHEREAS, through their work, American architects have expressed the richness of our nation’s heritage and the vitality of its spirit. They have combined advances in building technology with design innovation to enliven our cities and communities and improve our citizens’ quality of life; and

 

WHEREAS, the architect profession in San Mateo County, with the support of the American Institute of Architects, has been especially vigilant in its stewardship of many of our great architectural and historic treasures and in its efforts towards building healthy, safe, livable, and sustainable communities that enrich the lives of people in every walk of life.

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT PROCLAIMED that the San Mateo Board of Supervisors designates the week of April 9-14, 2007, as “San Mateo County Architecture Week” throughout San Mateo County and supports activities paying tribute to the Architects of America and the American Institute of Architects in this, its 150th year of existence.
