THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS
COUNTY OF SAN MATEO, STATE OF CALIFORNIA

RESOLUTION HONORING AND COMMENDING

ASHLEY GRAY

San Mateo County 2007 Teacher of the Year

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

WHEREAS, ASHLEY GRAY, teacher of American Government at South San Francisco High School, is San Mateo County’s Teacher of the Year for 2007; and

   

WHEREAS, in 1999 ASHLEY GRAY started teaching in the South San Francisco Unified School District and is currently the Social Studies Department Chair at South San Francisco High School; and

   

WHEREAS, in addition to American Government, ASHLEY GRAY has taught classes in Advanced Placement U.S. Government, Honors Economics, Modern World History, American Government for English Language Learners and World History for English Language Learners; and

   

WHEREAS, ASHLEY GRAY believes that both teachers and students should hold themselves accountable, and has frequently returned to the classroom as a student for professional development; and

   

WHEREAS, students in ASHLEY GRAY’S classes are taught to achieve beyond California State standards, and are challenged to be actively involved in government through civic participation; and

   

WHEREAS, ASHLEY GRAY specially recognizes students who vote in elections, serve as poll workers, or get ten voters to commit to voting.

   

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors of the County of San Mateo, State of California, on April 21, 2007, joins the Burlingame Bodies, Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite of Freemasonry, in honoring and commending ASHLEY GRAY as the 2007 San Mateo County Teacher of the Year, and thanks him for his commitment and dedication to the education of our youth.
