RESOLUTION APPROVING THE ESTABLISHMENT OF A GREEN BUSINESS PILOT PROGRAM IN SAN MATEO COUNTY

RESOLVED, by the Board of Supervisors of the County of San Mateo, State of California, that

WHEREAS, the Association of Bay Area Governments established a Green Business certification program in 1996; and

WHEREAS, the Green Business program has certified over 850 businesses in the Bay Area; and

WHEREAS, the Green Business program reduces pollution, increases recycling, and conserves resources; and

WHEREAS, the Green Business program reduces pollution, increases recycling, and conserves resources; and

WHEREAS, the Green Business program requires collaboration between ABAG and city and county governments; and

WHEREAS, the cities of Burlingame, Daly City, Millbrae, Redwood City, San Carlos and San Mateo are interested in working with the County on a Green Business pilot program; and

WHEREAS, the Green Business program is good for business, good for the environment and good for the community.

NOW, THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY DETERMINED AND ORDERED that the San Mateo County Board of Supervisors supports the establishment of a Green Business pilot program in San Mateo County.
